The Montano Assistive Technology Center is a center for Cerebral Palsy, neuromuscular/neurological, and all other disabilities. We specialize in individuals with autism. We offer a new style of language-based learning where individuals interact in sensory integration rooms with technology. Imagine your child/adult eagerly learning the language of directions by pressing a control panel to change the color of a bubbling 6 foot bubble column, or making sounds or words that activate scenes on a wall, or playing musical sounds on an elastic keyboard in space. We are observing significant changes in speech/language and communication in these rooms. Outside of the rooms, we have all participants writing about their experiences. We observe 3 and 4 year olds beginning to read before they can clearly talk. We now offer virtual reality for even more state of the art intervention.
The Department of Developmental Services -We are now participating providers for DDS. We perform comprehensive evaluations that have uncovered skills other have not discovered. One example is a 7-year-old was silently reading, althought no one else knew this. He is now reading out loud after 1 month of intervention. We have another child age 10 who was totally non-verbal. During the evaluation., in one of our sensory rooms, she said “let go” witnessed by her parent and the DDS behaviorist.
