The following are reasons why it would be so critical to receive a comprehensive evaluation at the Montano Assistive Technology Center:

Ø   To discover which sensory inputs are most important to the individual. It is a non-traditional assessment and intervention strategies appropriate for the development of communication in individuals having severe multiple differences, developmental differences, and/or autism. Information is relevant to the needs of those individuals who are currently unable to communicate their wants and needs spontaneously in their environment, regardless of age or severity of physical and/or cognitive differences. Techniques incorporate current research in the areas of communication, education, and sensory integration. The test are performed with people very familiar with participant in attendance.

Ø To uncover the need for sensory integration that can allow people to learn. When individuals participate interact with technology that stimulates the 4 senses (not including taste) in addition to movement in the vestibular sense and proprioception or where the person is in space, neurons in the brains start firing to allow the participant to more effectively learn.

Ø  To uncover the symbols that the individual understands. This test starts with the concrete symbols of progresses to words. We have uncovered reading skills individuals with little or no speech.
