Specialized switches are usually used with individual who does not have the cognitive or movement control to point/access a speech generated device (SGD), computer, or toy. Some of the switches have a large surface that may be mirror like or bumpy to encourage activation. Other switches involve other movements such as a squeezing motion. Switches are also used with e scanning feature on some SGD devices. Specialized switches can be ordered that are activated by almost any body part or body action. Some examples of specialized switches include sip and puff, myoelectrical, mercury, eye blink, and vibration.
